A PRAIRIE LANDS FOUNDATION PARK

Blog: This Week in the Woods

Early Morning Surprise!
05.02.2012

With the arrival of the grosbeaks and orioles at the feeders this morning, a most surprising 'first' sighting...an illusive woodcock bursting up from its seclusion in the growth near the potting shed to dive head-long into the cover of prairie. Indeed the guides indicate the possibility of sightings in this region during breeding season after a mild winter. So fortunate this is a day the car doesn't leave the barnyard!
